About

SFIT is a five-day improv festival in Seattle. Groups from all over North America descend upon the city to perform at Wing-It Productions (home of Jet City Improv).

There are also many wonderful improv workshops for beginners and seasoned players alike.

In addition to that, we have The Seattle Dust-Up, our answer to the typical festival “improv jam.”

Parental guidance is suggested at most SFIT performances.

FAQ

WHEN: Feb. 15-19, 2012

WHO: 27 different improv groups from across the nation (and world!). Read about each improv group here.

WHERE: Two venues, both in Seattle's University District:

Wing-It Productions: 5510 University NE, Seattle

The Ethnic Cultural Theater (ECT): 3940 Brooklyn Ave NE, Seattle

CAN I BRING MY KIDS/FOLKS/CHURCH GROUP? Each improv group is different, and most of them use adult language and/or invoke adult themes. Each show has three-four improv groups performing, so odds are that at least one or all of the groups will be adult-oriented. However, we will not turn anyone away based on their age.

HOW LONG IS EACH SHOW? About 90-105 minutes. (Groups are assigned slots of varialbe lengths, 15-30 minutes, and 3-4 groups perform at each show.)

HOW MUCH ARE TICKETS: $18 General Admission; $15 students/seniors/military; $50 for All Access Passes good for the whole weekend. (Click here for tickets.)

WHAT ABOUT PARKING? Parking is available on the street, ususally within one block of the theater. The ECT also has its own (pay) parking lot.

The very first Seattle Festival of Improv Theater was in February, 2001, over two nights at a small venue in Seattle. Since then, it has ballooned to a 5-night affair at multiple venues, reaching over 900 audience members each February.

We’ve seen such great groups at our festival as BASSPROV, Imp, FrankenMatt, Confidence Men, Drum Machine, Dirty Water, Improsia, Blood Squad, Parallelogramophonograph, Johnny Lunchpail, Josh & Tamra, Pimprov, Lost Folio, Funbucket, Election Show, and Dirty Laundry.
